All of a sudden QR (or Quick Response) Codes are everywhere. Seemingly overnight, those funky bar codes that you can scan with your smart phone popped up everywhere from posters on the train to the back of a bag of chips. But in a post this morning to ERE, recruiting expert John Sullivan wonders whether QR codes are the next big thing in social recruiting. Here’s his take:
If your recruiting effort is attempting to show off your firm’s innovation or its use of technology, the use of these codes might help to reinforce that message. QR codes can dramatically increase the value and usefulness of print ads, billboards, posters, business cards, and brochures. Because college students are particularly mobile phone dependent, QR codes should be embedded into all aspects of college recruiting.
Can these codes make your company more attractive? Or catch prospective talent in a sudden pang for a new challenge? The immediacy does seem enticing. How recruiters embrace this technology remains to be seen.
