Jeff Erwin
Chairman
Jeff Erwin has been a startup founder and CEO in the high-tech and software industry for over 25 years, with additional VP-level experience in a variety of public companies. In 1989, Jeff founded ProTools, a network analyzer company that was acquired by Network General in 1993. In 1994, Jeff founded and ran Kaspia Systems (a provider of enterprise network management software), which was acquired by Visio in 1998. Visio was then acquired by Microsoft in 2000.
Jeff's corporate experience includes three years as vice president of enterprise products at Visio, and five years at Microsoft, where he served as general manager for the Network Management Group and the Visio product line. He also served as director of incubation for Microsoft Research in the wireless mesh networking space. In 2006, Jeff became president and CEO of Pure Networks, which was then acquired by Cisco in 2008. He had previously served as president and CEO of Experticity, the leading developer of next-generation customer information systems.
Jeff has filed eight patents in the networking field, has shipped seven products at Microsoft, and has board-level experience with multiple venture capital-backed startups.
Anne Berkowitch
Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, SelectMinds
Anne Berkowitch co-founded SelectMinds in 2000. Since then, she has played a key role in developing SelectMinds’ client relationships, and in helping the company evolve into a leading provider of Purpose-Driven Networking solutions and services.
Previously, Anne was a management consultant with Booz Allen & Hamilton, working primarily with service businesses out of the New York and London offices. She was also instrumental in recruiting and developing senior staff, and eventually started her own boutique executive search firm specializing in placement of senior consultants, before co-founding SelectMinds.
Anne received a master of business administration degree in finance from MIT’s Sloan School of Management, and a bachelor of science degree in applied math and biology from Brown University.
Blue Teramoto
Co-Founder, SelectMinds
Blue Teramoto is a co-founder of SelectMinds. He previously worked with the international strategy consulting firm Farmer & Company, based in New York and London.
Blue has also served as an associate at Robertson, Stephens and Company, an international investment banking firm focused on emerging growth companies. While there, Blue assisted high-growth companies with positioning and capital transactions. In the company’s Health Services Group, Blue participated in and managed IPOs, mergers and acquisitions, and private placements of both debt and equity securities. Blue received a BA in Finance from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Robert P. Goodman
Managing Partner, Bessemer Venture Partners
Bob Goodman, the former CEO of two successful companies, brings an uncommon combination of entrepreneurial, operating, and investment expertise to the SelectMinds Board of Directors.
In 1998, Bob joined Bessemer Venture Partners (BVP). He is the founding partner of the BVP investment office in Larchmont, New York, where he focuses on investments in early-stage software and telecommunications (especially wireless) companies.
Before joining BVP, Bob founded two successful telecommunications companies: Celcore, Inc., a wireless equipment company acquired by Alcatel through the acquisition of DSC in 1997; and Boatphone, a group of cellular operating companies.
Bob also serves on the boards of directors of Bladelogic, Broadsoft, ColorChip, IAG Research, Siano Mobile Silicon, and Zensys.
Bob holds a bachelor of arts degree from Brown University and a master of business administration degree from Columbia University.
Alex Ferrara
Partner, Bessemer Venture Partners
Alex Ferrara brings a variety of experience in growing successful enterprise software, IT, and financial companies to the SelectMinds Board of Directors. As Vice President at Bessemer Venture Partners (BVP), Alex focuses on investments in software and financial services technologies. He has been actively involved with portfolio companies such as Revver, Zopa, Pure Networks, Quadriserv, Gerson Lehrman Group, SiteAdvisor, Skype, and Soleil Securities.
Before joining BVP, Alex worked at Goldman Sachs in Technology Investment Banking, where he worked on merger advisory and financings in the IT services and software sectors. He came to Goldman Sachs from his MBA studies, during which he served as part-time associate with both RRE Ventures and Apax Partners in projects involving open-source and enterprise software.
Alex has been a member of the founding teams of two companies: Mainline Marketplace, an online auction business, which was acquired by ChannelSpace Entertainment in 2000; and Boston Technical, an IT consulting practice serving Fortune 500 clients. He started his career in the financial sector as a commodities derivatives trader on the New York Board of Trade and a systems developer for Salomon Brothers.
Alex holds a master of business administration degree from Columbia University with an emphasis on finance and entrepreneurship, and a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. He has co-authored a book entitled Programming .NET Web Services, and has taught several seminars on emerging technologies.
John McMahon
SVP Sales and Services, BMC Software
John McMahon brings a strong track record in sales and sales management to the SelectMinds Board of Directors, having led worldwide sales organizations for five public software companies: Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC), GeoTel, Ariba, BladeLogic and BMC Software. John is currently BMC Software's Senior Vice President for worldwide sales and service. In this role, he oversees a large global sales and service organization that meets the needs of approximately 10,000 customers in more than 50 countries.
John joined BMC in April 2008 a part of the company's acquisition of BladeLogic, where he served as Executive Vice President. Before joining BladeLogic, John ran sales at PTC, a product lifecycle management solution provider. Under his sales leadership, PTC’s revenues grew from $3 million to $1.1 billion within nine years. John also managed global sales at GeoTel, prior to the company’s acquisition by Cisco, and led worldwide sales at Ariba, where he oversaw the merger between the Tradex and Trading Dynamics salesforces and helped to fuel Ariba’s standing as a B2B market leader. John was previously CEO of High Roads Technology, an HR cost management software company, where he grew annual subscription revenues from zero to $8.5 million in three years. McMahon received a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
